# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • It tastes nothing like regular green tea—roasted, toasty, and surprisingly soothing even when iced.
  • Takes barely ten minutes from kettle to sipping, making it perfect for those mornings when you need something special but have no time.
02 -
  • Hojicha has less caffeine than regular green tea thanks to the roasting process, making it a gentler afternoon or evening option.
  • The water temperature matters more than you'd expect—boiling water will make the tea taste slightly metallic, while water that's too cool won't extract enough of that toasted flavor you're after.
03 -
  • Buy loose leaf hojicha if you can find it—it brews more flavorfully than tea bags and feels less wasteful if you're making this regularly.
  • Keep your milk separate until the last moment; cold milk poured into warm tea creates better flavor integration than adding it all at once.
